PUBLIC NOTICE

FLOOD HAZARD MAP REVISIONS

The Village of Chagrin Falls, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the Village’s intent to revise the flood hazard information, generally located between North Main Street Bridge and the upper falls (a distance of 220 feet of stream length). The flood hazard revisions and regulatory floodway boundary are being revised as part of Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) Case No. 22-05-0749R for a proposed bridge improvement at North Main Street on the Chagrin River and to correct errors in the existing floodplain mapping based on better topographic data. Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works is proposing to rehabilitate the North Main Street Bridge. Once the project has been completed, a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) request should be submitted that will, in part, revise the following flood hazards along the Chagrin River.  The proposed revisions to the floodplain and floodway extents are entirely within parcels currently owned by the Village of Chagrin Falls and do not impact any other property owners.

  1. The floodway will be revised from North Main Street Bridge to the upper falls along the Chagrin River (from the downstream face of the Main Street Bridge to a point 220 feet upstream).
  2. Base Flood Elevations will increase from North Main Street Bridge to the upper falls along the Chagrin River (from the downstream face of the Main Street Bridge to a point 220 feet upstream).
  3. The Special Flood Hazard Area will increase from North Main Street Bridge to the upper falls along the Chagrin River (from the downstream face of the Main Street Bridge to a point 220 feet upstream).

The maps and detailed analysis of the revision can be reviewed at Chagrin Falls Village Hall,
21 W. Washington Street, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022.

Interested persons may contact Robert Jamieson, Chief Administrative Officer, at 440-247-5050 for additional information or to arrange to review the technical report and associated mapping until July 8, 2022.
