The Maple Street to Center Street Brick Alley Improvement Project will be starting the week of June 6, 2022.

This is a full reconstruction project that includes replacement of the pavement in the alley between Maple Street and Center Street.  A new stormwater management system will be installed under the new pavement to slowly meter stormwater runoff into the storm sewer system, and the flows will be monitored for effectiveness.  The apron approach to the alley off of Maple Street will be lowered and the adjacent sidewalks tapered to allow for easier ingress and egress to the alley by automobiles.  A new, partial pervious brick pavement surface and concrete curb will be installed.  There will be increased truck traffic in the streets around the project area, and the material staging area for the project will be on Center Street adjacent to the alley.

This project is expected to continue for a six (6) week period.  During most of the duration, you will not have access to your driveways and garages as the entire alley will be replaced.  We have planned to allow on-street overnight parking along the entire length of Center Street only and will be patrolled regularly by the Police Department.  Residents will be notified directly by the field inspector before access is completely shut down.  In addition, we are asking that you place your refuse and recycling carts on either Maple Street or Center Street for collection on your scheduled pick-up day.  It is also recommended that you label your carts with your address so that they do not get lost or mistaken.

The schedule is approximate and subject to change due to weather and project variables.  Village staff, our engineer, and the contractors on the project will work to minimize disruption and inconveniences with the work area.  Thank you for your understanding and patience.
