The Village of Chagrin Falls is in the process of re-painting light poles. This is a 2-step process including temporary white primer followed by a final black gloss paint. The final product will return to the same black color.
Over a year ago the Village become aware of the existence of an old natural gas well within the Village. This well had never been properly capped and was in proximity to residential neighborhoods. We contacted Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to have the well included on the state inventory of uncapped wells and to get it properly capped.
Today we were notified that the capping is going to start this week. Starting today, Gibson Energy which is working for ODNR, began staging mud mats across the public sidewalk and down the driveway at 306 South Franklin Street in preparation of the grouting and capping of a gas well which is located on the Geauga County property behind 306 South Franklin Street.
The contractor & ODNR worked out an agreement with the property owner at 306 South Franklin Street to use his driveway and side yard to access the well head, which will significantly minimize the cutting of trees. The work will take approximately one week to complete, weather dependent. The plan is to use the driveway and side yard to stage grout trucks and pump grout to the well head and cap it off. They will have traffic cones on either side of the mats that cross the public sidewalk to minimize pedestrian hazards.
Thank you for your understanding as this necessary project is completed.
