FirstEnergy – Helicopter Inspection Patrols

Message from First Energy

November 20, 2020

Due to the recent high-wind storm that moved through FirstEnergy Service Territory this past weekend, and beginning tentatively today, 11/20/2020, or within the next couple of days weather permitting, Chesapeake Bay Helicopters (CBH) will be mobilizing to the Illuminating Company region to begin performing post-wind event patrols to inspect and/or assess any possible wind damage that may have been sustained on select transmission lines 69kV-345kV. These patrols are anticipated to take three to four weeks to complete but as always, all work is strongly weather dependent and inclement weather or post-outage patrols in other areas may prolong completion. The helicopter to be used for these patrols is as follows:

–        Illuminating Company Region – Black, Hughes MD500 with tail registration number N748CB

The purpose of these follow-up-post-wind patrols is to look for any wind damage that may have been sustained during the recent windstorm where the inspector will be focusing on the structural integrity of the transmission lines and any severe hardware or component damage. The helicopter will be flying at speeds of 30 knots (35mph) but may also be seen hovering or circling to get a better look at any damage that may be found.

Press Release – Lighting of the Greens (virtual event)

PRESS RELEASE

LIGHTING OF THE GREENS
ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY IN TRIANGLE PARK

November 19, 2020

Cuyahoga County recently issued a Stay-At-Home advisory, encouraging residents to avoid all public and private gatherings of more than 10 people or gathering with people of different households.  In light of this advisory, the Village of Chagrin Falls and the Chagrin Valley Jaycees will proceed with the annual Lighting of the Greens ceremony as a virtual event.

We ask all residents to stay at home and participate virtually via the Village of Chagrin Falls YouTube or Drone Ohio YouTube channels, or via area social media channels. Join your community and friends in a watch party at home via Zoom.  In these difficult times, it is important that we learn how to safely celebrate together while we are physically distanced apart.

On Friday, November 27th at 6:30 PM, Santa will be escorted into the Village by The Chagrin Valley Jaycees.  His parade will travel from Grove Hill along Main Street to the Triangle Park Bandstand.  Mayor Tomko will welcome Santa to the Village and wish us all a safe and happy holiday.  Santa will speak to the children to reassure them that the holidays may look different, but will still be filled with magic – and presents!  Finally, after a brief countdown, Santa will push the button to light the greens all around town.  You can sing along with holiday music provided by Buford T. Hedgehog Productions.

We invite everyone in our community to join in fun virtually and participate at home by turning on your own holiday lights at the end of the countdown.  Drone Ohio will capture our Village as it transforms from darkness to light with the familiar holiday sparkle we all love.

As we enter a very different holiday season, we encourage everyone to stay safe – be positive, and test negative!

Please support our local merchants whenever possible by safely shopping online or in person adhering to all recommended precautions.   Remember that Shop Local Saturday is November 28th.
