Police and Fire Forces To Do No-Shave November Fundraiser

no-shave-november-graphic

Beginning November 1, members of the Chagrin Falls Police and Fire Departments will be participating in “No Shave November.” The aim of “No Shave November” is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose. Donate the money you would typically spend on grooming and shaving to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.

The money that we raise will be given to a local person whose family member has been affected by cancer. If you are interested in sponsoring a member of the safety forces, the Chagrin Falls Police and Fire Departments will happily accept cash or check until November 30.

Checks should be made payable to the John Murtaugh Benevolent Fund. Please designate “C.F. Safety Forces – No Shave November” in the note section. For your convenience, checks can be mailed to the Chagrin Falls Police Department at 21 W. Washington Street, Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44022.

During the first week of December, the proceeds will be delivered in person by members of the police and fire department.

Please help us to raise funds to support one of our own. The Chagrin Falls Police and Fire Departments sincerely appreciates your support!

Fire Protection Key Box Systems For Single Family Homes

KeyboxIn 2008 the Chagrin Falls Fire Department passed an ordinance requiring that Key Boxes shall be installed on all commercial and educational occupancies, as well as multi-family dwellings which are designed for occupancy by more than two families within the Village of Chagrin Falls.

The Fire Department has used the Knox Rapid Entry system since 2008 date with great success. It provides Firefighters quick access to victims with no damage to the structure from forcible entry.

Recently, several residents from the six communities we serve have inquired about purchasing Key Boxes for single family homes. In the past we have used commercially rated products from the Knox Company. We as of June 1st we will have order forms for Residential Knox Box products which are more cost effective for individual homeowners.

If you would like more information on Key Boxes or the Knox Program please contact Fire Marshal Jim Alunni at 440-247-1671.

Do you have photoelectric smoke alarms?

photo_unitThe Chagrin Falls Fire Marshal Jim Alunni was featured in a recent news article on new, more effective smoke alarms.  Chagrin Falls was among the first communities in northeast Ohio to mandate photo-electric technology in smoke alarms installed with any new construction and remodels.   The Fire Department recommends that all homes investigate installing photoelectric smoke alarms.  Read more about the difference in the smoke alarm technologies in the NewsNet 5 report .
