Wrap Up: Arbor Day Celebration in Riverside Park

We had a beautiful and fun filled morning planting trees in the heart of Chagrin Falls to celebrate Arbor Day.

Volunteers planted two staggered rows of white flowering dogwood saplings all along the house line of Riverside Park. It should be beautiful when they mature.

The saplings were donated by First Energy, who also handed out free saplings to residents to plant in their yard. Our service department and shade tree commissioners were also on hand, and helped plant with lots of residents, young and old.

If you have questions about your own trees, feel free to contact the shade tree commission.  They are a wealth of knowledge, and great people as well.

Plant A Tree And Get A Tree In Celebration Of Arbor Day!

The Village of Chagrin Falls invites the community to the Annual Arbor Day Ceremony on SATURDAY, APRIL 21st at 10:00 AM in Riverside Park, located on North Main Street.  Arbor Day is an international event held to commemorate the importance of trees in our communities.

This event will feature the planting of trees and shrubs, which will provide year-round beauty, near the children’s playground.
We thank First Energy for their donation of a large flowering dogwood tree and 200 flowering dogwood seedlings which will be planted throughout the Village parklands. They will also be giving away 100 dogwood seedlings for participants to take home and plant, so bring a shovel and come and plant a tree and get a tree.

An informative program about tree planting will be presented by the Chagrin Falls Shade Tree Commission and planting instructions for the seedlings will be handed out. The session will cover preparing the planting site, selecting shrubs and trees for the proper planting area, and caring for your new plantings.

All residents and interested persons are welcome to attend.

I hope to see you there!
Mayor Bill Tomko
