In 2008 the Chagrin Falls Fire Department passed an ordinance requiring that Key Boxes shall be installed on all commercial and educational occupancies, as well as multi-family dwellings which are designed for occupancy by more than two families within the Village of Chagrin Falls.
The Fire Department has used the Knox Rapid Entry system since 2008 date with great success. It provides Firefighters quick access to victims with no damage to the structure from forcible entry.
Recently, several residents from the six communities we serve have inquired about purchasing Key Boxes for single family homes. In the past we have used commercially rated products from the Knox Company. We as of June 1st we will have order forms for Residential Knox Box products which are more cost effective for individual homeowners.
If you would like more information on Key Boxes or the Knox Program please contact Fire Marshal Jim Alunni at 440-247-1671.
On May 22nd, 2014, Chagrin Falls will once again play host to the annual Blossom Time festival. As always, there will be numerous fun filled events, and we expect thousands of visitors from our neighboring communities. The Chagrin Falls Police Department would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of those who will be attending the Blossom Time activities, and to express our sincerest hope that those in attendance will have an enjoyable and safe experience.
The safety of our residents and visitors is of the utmost importance to the police department. Unfortunately, in recent years we have seen an increasing number of alcohol related incidents and arrests that not only put the safety of individuals at risk, but also cast a negative light over the weekend’s festivities. The Chagrin Falls Police Department would like to remind residents and Blossom Time attendees that having an open container of alcohol in a public place is a violation of Chagrin Falls Codified Ordinance 529.07. This ordinance applies to persons who are in ANY public place, to include streets, sidewalks, parking lots, school property, or any place other than a private residence where no legal permit exists. Persons who violate this ordinance are subject to a misdemeanor citation.
The Chagrin Falls Police Department hopes that all those in attendance during the Blossom Time festivities and parade act responsibly while enjoying this four day event.
